Marty Robinson has been named President of ABM Agriculture Division LLC, after having previously served as V.P. of the Ag Division. Mr. Robinson, of Cedar Rapids Iowa, will oversee all aspects of ABM’s Agriculture Division in the US.
“At current wheat prices, the cost of biological and chemical wheat seed treatments is the price of just one bushel. Chemical seed treatments provide a relatively high degree of control against seed-borne and soil-borne diseases for seven to ten days, which helps seeds and emerging seedlings.

An advantage to T-22, a hybrid strain of Trichoderma harzianum, is that the fungi colonize on the plant’s roots and grow throughout the life of the crop, says Gary Harman, plant pathologist, Cornell University, who developed the strain. Today, the T-22 biological seed treatment is produced by Advanced Biological Marketing, Van Wert, OH.

ABM notes that T-22 protects roots from Pythium, Rhizoctonia and Fusarium and that it enhances nutrient utilization and nitrogen utilization. The biological could help reduce nitrogen applications in wheat, Harman says, adding, ‘That alone would pay for seed treatment’”

Van Wert, OH- Now producers who want to eliminate one extra application before planting soybeans can, with Graph-Ex™ Soybean Inoculant plus Seed Lubricant. Advanced Biological Marketing developed this innovative, prepackaged combination made of two components: a talc-graphite carrier to add lubrication to planters, plus the award-winning Excalibre™ soybean inoculant.

Graph-Ex is the first soybean inoculant designed to make planting better with two-in-one convenience. Graph-Ex offers producers a high bacteria count, protection of expensive planting equipment, improved seed placement, and convenient packaging, along with Excalibre encapsulation technology with proven field performance.

The high performance of Graph-Ex assists with low volume rates, and the lubricant base assures easy handling, no bridging, and more accurate planting. Graph-Ex brings the same benefits to on-farm application that Excalibre brought to convenient dealer application.

“ABM products are designed with the farmer in mind, for top yield response, time-saving convenience, and accurate planting,” said Marty Robinson, ABM marketing director. “With the release of Graph-Ex, producers will gain a low-use rate for improved planting, plus better yielding soybeans, all in one formulation for fast and convenient bulk or planter box application.”

VAN WERT, OHIO
"The marketing agreement between ABM and TJ Technologies began the first of this year for ExcalibreQRTM," Dan Custis, ABM president, said. "We jointly formed a product that would showcase ABM and TJ Technologies capabilities in the most value-added package for not only seed dealers but also producers in the field."

During the American Seed Trade Association’s annual meeting and trade show in 2004, ABM and TJ Technologies began to entertain the possibilities of combining their resources to creating a product that would be unique and beneficial to the market place.

With ABM’s strength in marketing and sales capabilities and TJ Technologies extensive research and development background, soybeans testing began in 2005.

TJ Technologies’ QuickRoots seed treatment was first tested on America’s Best InoculantTM, resulting in increased yields of 5 to 6 bushels per acre.

"One of the primary goals we have with TJ Technologies is to produce a product that will provide consistency in soybeans," Custis said. "In 2006 we asked TJ Technologies about marketing QuickRoots nationwide in our ExcalibreTM inoculant."

"When you combine ExcalibreTM with QuickRoots results have indicated a 4 to 6 bushel increase per acre, whereas alone ExcalibreTM and QuickRoots showed only a 2 to 3 bushel per acre increase," Custis added. "Combined, as ExcalibreQRTM users will see a consistent 4 to 6 bushel yield per acre in
their soybean crop.

The mission of TJ Technologies is to positively influence the profitability and sustainability of production agriculture through innovative and consistently effective agricultural products. TJ Technologies was founded in 1978 by Tom Johnson and is headquartered in Buffalo, SD. There is also a research and development laboratory located in Brookings, SD.

"With TJ Technologies expertise in research and development it was a natural fit for us to join forces and enhance ExcalibreTM with their technology," Custis said. "Advanced Biological Marketing will market ExcalibreQRTM to the industry nationwide."

VAN WERT, OHIO
Advanced Biological Marketing (ABM) posted record sales at the conclusion of their fiscal year, ending June 30.

Their success is due largely to ExcalibreTM, the most technologically advanced soybean inoculant to hit the marketplace. Excalibre now has a 120-day post-application planting window. It was introduced to the industry in January 2006 with a 60-day, post-application planting window, which was broadened to 120 days for the 2007 planting season.

"This is the first year that ABM sold our products through distribution channels and we owe a great thanks to the regional and national distributors who helped us achieve our growth and success," Dan Custis, ABM president, said. "ABM’s share of the soybean inoculant market nearly doubled, despite a substantial drop in U.S. soybeans planted in 2007."

Excalibre is the only 120-day Bradyrhizobia and encapsulated soybean inoculant available to date. With these enhancements and longer shelf life, Excalibre provides agricultural seed dealers and farmers significant advantages in handling, planting and profitability.

ABM also enjoyed continued success with additional biological products, according to Marty Robinson, ABM Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "Our biological fungicide for wheat, T-22, has become the most widely used EPA registered biofungicide in U.S. field crops."
